i think we need some new power tool based events/things/competitions at this. drag racing for 10 hours straight is, well, too much like a real drag race.
some other things we might consider, continuing to exploit the current mileu.
1. tool freestyle jumping- track with ski jumplike ramp at the end, curving up to vertical. tools go up, then come down. ratings follow. duck and cover.
2. tool pull- tractor/truck pull like sled, but with power tools
3. tool push off- two tools start in the middle of the track facing each other and touching. first one to push the other off the other end of the track wins (could be a small side show track too.
3. tool demo derby- the oft mentioned race to the middle. difficult to repeat or even rerun false starts. again, duck and cover.
4. tool face off- like the above, but goal is to make it to the other end of the track, despite a tool coming in the opposite direction. designs might chose to go under, over, around, through, stop and push, or demolish the opposing tool and continue to the other end of the track. maybe start the tools only 20' or so apart so they don't get going too fast before meeting. yet again, duck and cover.
5. concourse tool show- pretty tools judged as such.
these sorts of things could be built into the middle of the current track, or be a separate side show thing off to the side.
any of this sound interesting?

interesting. could be done, but the cords would get wound. passing would be difficult without cutting cords.
so maybe we embrace cord wrapping and make a contest of POWER TOOL TETHERBALL. ok, maybe that wouldn't work. or would it?
