Can anyone send me the rules or a link to the rules of the event? I need classes/categories, I need specs on the track. The works will start in 3D (SolidWorks) while we get parts and start to build for next year.
Thanks, Mike

Re: Rules of the Game?
Mon, September 5, 2005 - 11:11 PMHeh. I love competing against the folks that build using a computer model. In 8years of Robotic Combat I have won against most of them.
The secrete to building is CAD (Cardboard Aided Design) Mock your design up and then (really test it) and then modify it to work well.
I use a lot of math when I build stuff, but I have found that applied physics involves a lot of Trial and Terror. Which is as it should be.
You have about a month to get your stuff together, Start bolting stuff together and welding now. Bring it on..... ;)

Re: Rules of the Game?
Tue, September 6, 2005 - 12:26 AMI can’t argue with you. Don’t see the point, both ways have merit. It’s all a mater of what you’re used to. The reason for doing my 3D models is to start the work now while I wait for the money to catch up with my vision/hallucination. I loved the discovery broadcast of the event. This is about participating, getting involved learning from the process. I print out my flat patterns too. I wish the plotter could do cardboard.
So far I have the track done and a few misc, parts all in 3D. I already have 3 count them 3 working models in LEGO’s. :-) I love LEGO’s
I am looking forward to the beginning of Trial and Terror part.
(Too bad you can’t hear the sinister laugh. )

Tue, September 6, 2005 - 4:29 PMWell… CAC doesn’t roll of the tongue like CAD does. Sounds like gagging on a hair ball. -

CAaaahh--hh--CCCAaaaCK. .. spit ..
*clears throat*
Cardboard aided construction is GOOD. Now, as long as we don't have a "chop the bloody valve off the end of a large container of compressed gas" entry... I'm good. I'll pit the Tree Shredder of DOOM against anyone.
Yeargh-arrrgh-arrrrrr... *incoherent noises followed by the sound of trees being chipped to shreds .. wetly*
