Re: OCTOBER 15TH
Tue, July 26, 2005 - 8:31 PMI usually stay at the Motel 6 in South San Francisco by the airport. It ain't fancy but it's cheap.
Definately bring your dusty, rusty, desert tools and body out the City. You'll fit right in with these folks and their amazing collection of industrial toys.
The power Tool Drag Races are a lot like your Robot events. A bit dirty, semi organized, a bit dangerous and definately amusing. Not to mention a good friendy competition filled with strange sights, sounds, smells and flavors and thats just the event staff..... ;)
You know I've been involved in a lot of events, Ed. I really liked this one, I think you'll Dig it. Don't forget to bring Red too....
Wherever you go..... There you are.....

well, mr hell not being able to do it, in combination with chicken needing to spend the say in a dunk tank at decompression, seems to be too much for this weekend.
if we do it the following weekend, so we think that is too far into october? are we risking rain too much?
it will get dark earlier, but we can have lights. racing under lights is always good. maybe saturday goes late and into a night party or something.
we need to announce the date. charlie will be at robodock in amsterdam until the beginning of october. simone has something else oct 7/8th. so it appears that the weeked of the 15th or hte weekend of the 23rd is it.
let's figure this out so we can announce it.

Re: OCTOBER 15TH
Tue, August 2, 2005 - 9:48 PMI was ready since March...! I have to clean rust off of stuff now.
As an EO in robotic combat I have found that it is the EO's function to Just pick a Date when they can afford to run the event and hopefully Break even on cost (of course making a little money is better). You have to be firm in your desions and let the competitors work out their problems. So eventually you have to ignore the bitching and just pick a date that will work best for YOUR Event. "So why don't you just Fix your little problem and light this Candle" Before the Sun goe's down..... -

another option. curious what yous think of this.
what if we did it one day only, from noon to midnight. half in the light. half in the dark. racing at night is great. end with a party sort of thing.
one day would make a better show. there is really only one day of comedy here. but the racing is likely better as a two day event. but compressing it all into one day again might concentrate the good.
we are likely going to have to modify the 2x elimination thing so that you only get 2x elimination off the first round. after that it is one loss and you are out. otherwise the elimination takes forever, as we saw last year.
it is important to change things. i think we realized about everything we are with the current form last year. so something should change. maybe running half of it at night would be good. and some other competitions would be good. see next note for that.
if we decide for two weekends it seems that the 23rd and 24th is better. for a one day event it seems saturday the 14th is needed, as the 15th is decompression and mr. hell's progeny bday. would saturday work john?

whoops, the 14th is the bday. so that won't work. so it is the 22/23rd weekend, or the 7/8 weekend on the day that is not the problem for simone. simone, don't you have some issue on the 7/8?
and one endurance day/night, or two?

Re: OCTOBER 15TH
Fri, August 5, 2005 - 10:20 AMThe 7/8 weekend or the 22/23 weekend is good for me, thanks. One day is preferred. I think I can speak for Chicken and Hal when I say that two days was a pisser.

Re: OCTOBER 15TH

john, can you clarify. the numbers and dates are a bit messed up here. sunday of the current best weekend is sunday, oct 9th. this is the say of decompression.
we are now proposing to do this on saturday, oct 8th as a noon to midnight event. lots of people will be in town for decomp so that will be good.
please tell me you can do this on sat, oct 8th?
if you say no, we are going to have to go back to saturday, oct 15th, right where we started this whole mess. when was your daughter's bday again? does she know that you do this?

Re: OCTOBER 15TH
Sun, August 7, 2005 - 10:28 PMok, now i reread though this mess. i now see john's daughter's bday is saturday the 14th. as we are now looking at a noon to midnight event, it needs to be on a saturday. the 1st is out as charlie is at robodock or shortly returned. the 8th is perfect. the 14th is the bdahy in question. the 23rd is cold and stormy and not desired. the 20th is halloween.
so john, come on, help a community out here. if you continue to make trouble, we're going to put mateo in your seat and well, things might be a bit different.
please john, for the community. just say yes.

Mon, August 8, 2005 - 4:34 PMI prefer wither the 9th, 22nd, or 23rd. If none of those dates workm then put Mateo in my seat and listen to him verbally materbate all day.
Not that I don't enjoy that kind of thing, you understand.
Enjoy.
